Michael George Pikis is the founder and managing partner of Pikis & Nikitas LLC. He started his law office in 1995 which became a company in 2010. He has extensive litigation experience both in criminal and civil law. He started as general practitioner but for the last fifteen years he focuses on criminal law and is considered to be one of the leading criminal advocates in Cyprus. He is frequently involved in high profile criminal cases, ranging from white-collar crime to murder and manslaughter.
In 2003 Michael was one of the three independent criminal investigators appointed by the Council of Ministers to investigate the case of a listening device unlawfully installed in the office of the Minister of Justice.
In 2010, Michael was nominated by the Cyprus Bar Association as a legal expert in the European Justice Programme with regard to the rights of defendants in criminal proceedings and prepared the relevant factsheets for Cyprus (see European e-Justice Portal).
In 2016 Michael was nominated by the Cyprus Bar as a legal expert in the European Arrest Warrant -Rights project1, which was funded by the European Commission in order to provide an assessment by defence practitioners in the EU of the implementation of the Framework Decision 2002/584/JHA of 13 June 2002 on the European Arrest Warrant and the surrender procedures between Member States.
